HESI stands for Health Education Systems, Inc. a company that provides standardized tests for nursing students. The acronym has come to mean the examination that prospective nursing students take before nursing school or the exam they take when they graduate nursing school. The HESI is aimed as a proficiency test to assess students associated with nursing programs. When a student gets a good grade, he or she can be assured of an Associate Degree in Nursing.

The HESI is an online exam designed to provide different types of tests that evaluate the effectiveness applied by every student to specific content; however, this exam is not used everywhere and can be taken by students at various times in their careers.

As a preparatory exam, the HESI exam allows students to apply for admission in leading nursing schools. Some colleges use the HESI as an assessment tool to evaluate a student’s ability during the study program.
